Location
Established by a Hapsburg prince who in 1719 declared the village with its 600 homes a free port, Trieste became Europe`s gateway to the sea combining 3 cultures: Italian, Slavic and Central European. The historic cafés like Antico Caffe` degli Specchi in the old city centre, which were the intellectual heart of the city, are examples of this important past. An often forgotten and a seemingly sleepy town, Trieste is on the contrary a very lively city. The train station is located roughly 6 km from the hotel. Friuli Venezia Giulia Airport is some 13 km away.
